Here are some movies and shows I'm watching right now. Hope you enjoy taking a look!

Legion (2017-2019 Series: Hulu)

Genres: Action, Drama, Sci-Fi
Starring: Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Rachel Keller
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 91%
Audience Meter: 👥 86%

This show caught me by surprise!

I didn’t think I’d care about it since I’m not a Marvel universe fanatic, but Legion’s special effects and world-building are some of the best I’ve ever seen.

Legion is, without a doubt, a ton of fun. I’m impressed with every episode.

Relic (2020 Movie: For rent)

Genres: Horror, Drama
Starring: Emily Mortimer, Bella Heathcote, Robyn Nevin
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 92%
Audience Meter: 👥 49%

You may not be a fan of scary movies, but this one is different on a few levels.

Most scary movies are made purely for the sake of being scary, which is fine. But there are few, like Relic, that are theme-driven and don’t rely solely on cheap jump-scares.

If you’re at all interested in this genre, you won’t be disappointed.

Lisey’s Story (2021 Miniseries:  TV+)

Genres: Drama, Mystery, Thriller
Starring: Julian Moore, Clive Owen, Jennifer Jason Leigh
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 55%
Audience Meter: 👥 62%

This brand new series premiered its first couple episodes June 4, with new episodes releasing on Fridays.

Hard to give this a solid review or recommendation yet, as only 4 episodes are out, but I am fairly intrigued so far.

The Mosquito Coast (2021 Series:  TV+)

Genres: Adventure, Drama, Thriller
Starring: Justin Theroux, Melissa George
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 61%
Audience Meter: 👥 72%

This new series from Apple TV+ just finished airing its final episode from season 1.

I'm liking the story, the stakes, and the adventure.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the two kids' acting, and the writing isn't top tier, but it is quite an entertaining thriller. Justin Theroux's performance is as good as ever.

I do think it's worth you giving it a shot. Check out the trailer by clicking on the poster if you think you might be interested.

The Prestige (2006 Movie: For rent)

Genres: Mystery, Thriller, Fantasy
Starring: Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Michael Cain, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, David Bowie, Andy Serkis
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 76%
Audience Meter: 👥 92%

A movie I’ve seen many times, but had to show my sister-in-law when I found out she hadn’t seen it.

The Prestige is in my top 3 favorite movies ever. Give it a watch if you haven’t already—or a rewatch if you have!

Steve Jobs (2015 Movie: Netflix)

Genres: Drama, Biography
Starring: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogan, Jeff Daniels
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 85%
Audience Meter: 👥 73%

I couldn’t get over how amazing the writing and acting were in this.

I don’t know how else to put it other than saying what a good movie! It's one I can see myself rewatching, even if it's just to take notes on Aaron Sorkin's writing skills.

A Quiet Place pt. II (2021 Movie: In theaters)

Genres: Mystery, Horror, Thriller
Starring: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Cillian Murphy
Rotten Tomatoes: 🍅 91%
Audience Meter: 👥 93%

I've been asked how this sequel compared to its predecessor. I consider it my compliment to this movie that I really can’t say which was better.

We see some new things in Part 2 that I thoroughly enjoyed, a lot of which are in the opening scene.

It’s also cool to see director John Krasinski be a part of keeping the dying industry of theaters alive. Even before COVID, theaters have been on thin ice that is melting quickly. I appreciate all that he, and movie-goers, are doing to keep theatrical releases a part of our lives for at least awhile longer.

Here’s to a brighter, theater-thriving future. 🥂
